2025 Walsh Park Open Thank You

Dear Participants, Supporters, and Winners,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to thank everyone who attended the 2025 Walsh Park Open. I am immensely grateful to Hay Harbor’s Andrew Kegarise and his staff for making the tournament memorable. Your staff was fun, engaging and did an amazing job. It was a remarkable day filled with a show of community, sportsmanship, and friendly competition.

The weather could not have been more perfect for a day of golf, and we were thrilled to see 13 teams come together to showcase their skills on the firm and fast course, prepared in exceptional condition by Alex Williams and his awesome greenskeeping staff. A special thank you goes out to the Burr family for their enthusiastic participation, filling two full teams and adding to the competitive spirit of the event. Thank you to our local businesses for making the Day exciting with their donation of prizes, it truly wouldn’t be the same without your support. A special shout out to Bronya and FI Lemonade for gifting everyone a carry cooler so they could tote cold drinks on the course, they were loved by All.

It was significant and deeply appreciated to have six out of the twelve board members present, a clear demonstration of their dedication to our community and their support for the success of the Walsh Park Open. Their Presence spoke volumes about showing their ongoing commitment and involvement.

We extend a heartfelt thank you to Ellen Harvey, Andrew Burr and Dave Congdon for so thoughtfully honoring Matt Edward’s dedicated service to Walsh Park, the Fishers Island Fire Department, the Fishers Island School Board, and his many other volunteer efforts throughout the community.  Andrew presented Matt with a beautifully crafted silver Fisher Island belt buckle made by Wendy O’Neil.  While we celebrate his incredible contributions, we are grateful that Matt will continue to be a part of the Island’s life through his ongoing involvement with the Museum.

Congratulations to the Pirates Cove team, comprised of Matt Skinner, Mike Lane, Pat Stevens, Sam Horn, Dave Delgrasso, and Fergus Younger, for emerging as the winners of the day. Your teamwork, and skill were truly commendable.

Once again, thank you to our sponsors, teams and Hay Harbor who contributed to making the 2025 Walsh Park Open a resounding success. Your presence and participation made the event truly special, and we look forward to seeing you again at future gatherings.

Warm regards,
